There is ample sun and blue sky above the golden sandy beaches, with plenty of room for everyone. April begins to produce some teasingly warm weather to break the arctic grip, and boaters are eager to launch in search of the feeding Spring Salmon in shallow waters. May and June try to offer temperatures that have beach goers dusting off chairs and coolers. Fishermen start to locate the abundant schools of Perch. July Summer festival weekends are packed with activities for all ages (see events page for dates & calendar). The Annual parade, Drum & Bugle Corp competition at Ames Field, Volleyball tournaments, kiddie parade, dances at the beach, roll n' roll car cruise ... over 600 "oldies", carnivals, watch hundreds of kids jump in the filthy, gooey, black mud bog (for cash), 4X4's, swimming, fishing, and climaxed by a dazzling fireworks display at the lake.
But it doesn't end there. August events include the Lakefront Art Festival (Aug 14-15, '10), and the Michigan City In-Water Boat Show (Aug 26-29,'10), the largest on Lake Michigan. Lots of sales around to test your shopping ability. Don't forget to fill your trunk with the delicious seasonal U-Pick crops. Save some energy, and kick up your heels at the annual Labor Dayz Fest, with lots of food and jammin' in the beer tents.
Don't be a wimp and call it quits yet. While others catch their breath, you can still enjoy some quiet September weekends, warm skies, and gorgeous sunsets as summer begins to fade away. Fishermen start to reap the bounty of Fall salmon/trout from boat or shore, sometimes possible into October & November. If you missed something this year, we'll probably see you again next year, in Michigan City.

THANKS.....
to all internet visitors, and those who had an opportunity to actually come visit Michigan City during the past year.
By reading all the things to do, and a little clever family teamwork, we just might see you this year. Dad sees the fishing and the kids see the beach. Now just tell mom there is an Outlet Mall nearby, and everyone will be happy to come.
