Seth was the third son of Adam and Eve. The Bible records that he bore Adam's likeness and image meaning that although he was born after the manner of all flesh, he was created in the image of God like his parents. Eve, remembering God had promised that her seed would crush the head of the serpent, named this son "Seth" because she said, "God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew" (Gen 4:25). During Seth's lifetime "men began to call upon the name of the Lord."
