Recently I took my very first commercial
air trip. Yup, for 57 years I have managed to keep both feet firmly planted to
terra firma. But I will admit I enjoyed flying and arriving at our destination
in a reasonable fashion. You can be sure this will not be the last air
voyage, as plans are underway for future and even farther trips from home.
Fall in New England is all that the poets
and song writers claim it to be and more. Though just spending a few days
in Rhode Island, I can honestly say I lost my heart but found my head.
(see pictures).
Here are a few of the sights "Louise
& Thelma" managed to see on a one day adventure to East Greenwich,
RI.
We started with lunch at Audra's, the green building with the
purple sign. Louise had the home-made soup and a sandwich while Thelma
pigged out on a hot-turkey sandwich ... ummm, can still taste the dressing and
cranberries.

East Greenwich Town Hall. The
flag pole is a ships mast. This Town Hall has been in use since 1673. It looks
towards the bay and down King Street.
Nolie reads the Town Hall history.
The
Chocolate Delicacy - nothing more to be said. (The
building with the red awning).
Bags by Iris - found lots here ...
... Repete, were Thelma and Louise found some really great stuff. That is
"Louise" with Nolie discussing the bargain they found on a leather
jacket.
Thelma
& Louise found a friend - a kindred soul, Tia's Mom, Diana, along with some
really neat southwestern items. Diana owns Tailored Crafts which
specializes in native jewelry and art.
Tom enjoyed breakfast at Kent's, and was ready to bargain hunt with the rest of
us. Little did we know we were going to find our head - just down the
street.
Along with meeting the artist Alan Fontana and his three cats.
This is Alan making his make on my head. His studio is in the background. It was
too dark to take pictures inside but the walls are covered in carvings and
watercolors. He does have a website
Fontana Studio if you would like to see some of his creations.
T&L
returned to the bay, where we were greeted by three lovely swans.
and soon joined by a returning clamer with the days bounty from the sea.
Four bags destined for a clam bake.
It was over far too soon and I
am ready for a return trip anytime.
We did see Providence at
night...
this is Providence Place with Nordstrom's, Lord & Taylor, and Filene's as
the anchors. Four floors and much walking but we did see a wonderful sunset from
the massive windows in the section that spans Providence River. We ate the the
Capitol Grill, known for its aged beef. After our meal we went to the river and
took some extra pictures.
Memories of
good friends having a great time and adventure. (Even if the guys had to
work).
