MICHIGAN CITY ------- to -------- LaPORTE

With only a scattering of PONDS within Michigan City, one must
travel to the city of LaPorte, approximately 12 miles to the South-East, for inland lakes.

Not to detour far from the scope of presenting activities and fishing
Lake Michigan from Michigan City, the close proximity makes it worthwhile
to bring mention of LaPorte's lakes for the interest of the angler.

LaPORTE LAKES
LaPorte offers 4 inland lakes to tempt the anglers ability in search of Bass, Crappie,
Northern Pike, Bluegill and Catfish. Very close to each other, they are located on the
Northern edge of the city, and HWY US 35 will have you right on the waters edge.

PINE LAKE
The largest of the four, Pine Lake is "one", but is usually referenced as to "North Pine"
and "South Pine" due to the intersecting penninsula.
Public beach area, boat launch, watersports, pontoon rental, houseboat rental.

STONE LAKE
Just South of Pine Lake, the two are connected by a channel under a bridge, just large
enough to accomodate a small boat. Public beach area, boat launch, park & picnic facilities.
There is an engine size and speed restrictions.

CLEAR LAKE
Just East of US 35 is Clear Lake. Parking for shore fishing, and small
boat fishing allowed. Picnic area.

FISH TRAP LAKE
This smaller body of water is just North of Clear Lake, but has nice fishing. Boat rentals.

LaPorte offers an excellent fishing opportunity for those who enjoy "smaller" inland lakes.
Beautiful environment in the Spring, Summer, or Fall. And for anyone unfamiliar with
Northern Indiana, there is also a good winter season for Ice Fishing .... depending on
annual ice-pack conditions.

LaPorte is a community which offers ample activities for visitors.
Historical attractions, museums, antiques and shopping are but a few.
For genealogists, LaPorte is the county seat, and the courthouse
is the place to go to search and obtain family documents.
Nice local accomodations and dining facilities.
