MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA
Southern Shoreline of Lake Michigan.
9 miles from the Michigan State Line
35 miles from the Illinois State Line.
For "time" purposes, remember that Michigan City operates
on "CST" (or think of Chicago time), and does encounter
the time change during the summer (Central Daylight Saving Time).
INDIANA TIME CONFUSION / 2005: When Michigan City (CST) moved clocks ahead in the Spring, we went on the SAME time as the rest of Indiana (EST). In (April) 2006, the rest of Indiana will also move their clocks ahead 1 hour (to Eastern Daylight Saving Time). For the first time in most people's lifetime, Michigan City will now be 1 hour BEHIND the rest of Indiana on a year-round basis. Adjust your thinking if you must arrive at a specific time. Got it? (ie: Indianapolis 7am EST = Michigan City 6am CST)
Those in EST will GAIN the hour coming, and LOSE the hour going home.
