scroll pictureCalling For Elijah

He said to them, "This is what I told you before I was crucified. All the prophecies must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning me." - Luke 22:44

The words "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" mark the beginning of the 22nd Psalm which prophesies the rejection and crucifixion of the Messiah. Jesus spoke these words while hanging on the cross. Although the religious leaders of the day were familiar with this scripture, they allowed the people to believe Jesus was calling for Elijah.
